Is your pool losing water? Don’t panic, we have the solution!
Are you noticing a rapid drop in your pool’s water level? A leak could be the cause. But how can you detect it without damaging your installations?
Non-destructive pool leak detection – Professional methods
We pinpoint the leak accurately, without unnecessary breaking (pool basin, built-in parts, pipes, technical room).
A pool that is losing water may hide a leak on the liner/coating, a built-in part (skimmer, return jet, underwater light…), or a buried pipe. Non-destructive leak detection helps identify the area before repair, avoiding random guesswork.
Proven efficiency
With a success rate of over 99% since 2022, we guarantee reliable results.
Before concluding there is a leak: take the
bucket test
(evaporation vs. leak). It is a great filter before diagnosis.
We limit « random » searches and target the repair effectively.
Less breaking
We first search for the exact zone: fewer unnecessary openings, fewer works.
Less wasted time
An accurate diagnosis speeds up repair and prevents successive « trials ».
More reliable repair
The report guides the right action (network, built-in part, waterproofing…).
Insurance Support: A covered service
-
- Depending on your insurance policy, leak detection services are generally
covered
-
- by your insurer under water damage coverage. The deductible generally ranges between €100 and €150. Feel free to present our quote to your insurer. L’Olympide can also guide you through the
process.

Non-destructive leak detection methods
Depending on the configuration (pool type, symptoms, stabilization level, network accessibility),
we use one or more complementary methods. The idea is not to pile up tests,
but to choose the most relevant ones to confirm and locate.
When to use which method?
- Pressure test: confirm a loss on a line (suction/return), isolate a section.
- Video inspection: view the inside of an accessible pipe.
- Tracer gas: spot a leak on a buried network via gas rising.
- Fluorescein: highlight suction / micro-passages (depending on context).
- Electro-induction: network/zone location (depending on installation and accessibility).
- Vacuum test: highlight a defect on a circuit by creating a controlled vacuum.
- Electro-acoustic: listen/track leak noise on a network (depending on materials and conditions).
Our intervention logic
- Analyze the drop (speed, stabilization level, weather conditions).
- Check pool basin / built-in parts / technical room before blaming the buried network.
- Isolate circuits and confirm loss (targeted tests).
- Locate the most likely zone, then propose a targeted repair.
If needed, start with the bucket test (evaporation vs. leak).
Pool leak detection on-site
Each intervention is carried out on-site by a specialized technician, using a progressive methodology and targeted checks.
Equipment used for pool leak detection
Non-destructive leak detection relies on specific equipment tailored to each situation
(buried network, built-in parts, pool waterproofing).
Diving pool leak detection (if necessary)
When the configuration requires it, certain checks can be carried out while diving,
especially around built-in parts or hard-to-reach areas.

Three demonstrations to understand the approach and the type of equipment used in the field.
How does a non-destructive leak detection take place?
Objective: locate the origin of the water loss, then provide an actionable report to trigger a targeted repair.
Symptoms, drop speed, stabilization level, initial checks.
Choice of appropriate methods (pressure, video, gas, etc.) to isolate and confirm.
Clear summary: zone, probable cause, repair recommendations.
FAQ – Non-destructive pool leak detection
Does « non-destructive » mean zero openings?
Yes, the goal is to avoid any unnecessary breaking. In most cases, we locate without opening. An opening is only considered as a last resort, and only in a targeted manner once the zone is confirmed.
Why are multiple methods sometimes necessary?
Because each pool and installation is different. One method can confirm a loss (e.g., pressure) and another can help locate it on the ground (e.g., tracer gas). The goal is to be as accurate as possible, not to multiply tests.
Is a leak always visible?
No. A large part of leaks are located on built-in parts, the technical room, or buried pipes. That is why we work through isolation/confirmation, not just « by eye ».
What does the report contain?
An actionable report: findings, zone/location, probable cause, repair recommendations. It can be forwarded to your pool builder or artisan.
What can I do before calling you?
Do the bucket test: it often helps distinguish between evaporation and an actual leak, and better qualify the urgency.
